Matt Dunbar is Co-Founder and Managing Director of VentureSouth. VentureSouth got its start in 2008 when Mr. Dunbar helped launch the Upstate Carolina Angel Network (UCAN) in Greenville, SC. The group has since grown and evolved to become one of the nation’s largest and most active angel investment organizations with nearly 600 member investors across the Southeast.
Matt has served on numerous corporate boards including Entegra Bank (acquired by First Citizens Bank), Cirtemo (acquired by Thorlabs) and Zylo Therapeutics. He has also served on numerous non-profit boards including the Angel Capital Association, the Greenville Community Foundation, Junior Achievement of Upstate SC, and the Clemson University Board of Visitors. Matt is also a Deacon at Downtown Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Prior to launching UCAN and VentureSouth, Matt was a Project Leader with the Boston Consulting Group in their Atlanta office, and he began his career as an engineer with Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, TN.
Matt holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University, where he served as Student Body President, and an MBA and Masters in Education from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
