Tip 90: Follow-up – deal room. Relating to the last tip, and the overall philosophy of “Pitching is a Process,” you should make sure potential investors have access to your detailed materials immediately after the pitch – which means collecting them and setting up a repository before you pitch.
Members hear the pitch, get excited about what you say, volunteer to be on a diligence team, go looking for your documents to learn more – and find nothing. All that great momentum is quickly lost.
Be proactive about supplying a link to your due diligence documents, even if they haven’t been asked for yet. A good investor will be pleased to be looking at such a well-organized company.
